News Proposal for KEYSTONE 2018

YES-O

            Kalayaan Elementary School Youth for Environment in Schools Organizational (YES-O) held YES-O Camp last October 21, 2018 at Kalayaan School Grounds with the theme, “Excavating the abyss, pulsing the current, steering the youth as stewards of sustainable development.”

           The members of the organization had a day full of fun starting with a Short Opening ceremonies. Mrs. Angelica Sergio MT II gave her opening message to the participants. Mrs. Sarena Inalisan MT I officially opened the camp followed by a Zumba Class lead by Mrs. Sheryl Francisco and Arjolyn A. Sabuito and was joined by the Camp Staff and Facilitators.

          The camp was designed in a Base Method where participants need to go to the different bases to finish all the tasks. Base 1 is about Sci-Art Babble Dabble where students made a watercolor and oil project with a scientific twist. Where the concept that oil and water don’t mix just like biodegradable and non- biodegradable should not be mixed was introduced by Mrs. Sarena Inalisan. Base 2 is a fun relay about Water conservation with Mrs. Benita Martillos, where teams had to fill a water bottle using using sponge. Seed planting in an eggshell was thought in Base 3 by Mrs. Maria Rizza Ilanga where the students planted on eggshells and was taught the needs and proper caring of plants. The participants had funny walks and faces in the game duck walk prepared by Ms. Christine Espedido in Base 4. In Base 5 the students had a film showing entitled Sammy’s Adventure. Sammy’s Adventure is about a sea turtle who hatches in 1959 spends 50 years traveling the world’s oceans while they are changed by global warming with Ms. Donnalyn Dumalag

 

        A plenary activity about Basic First Aid in common Injuries was taught to the Children by Mrs. Vanessa Balosa.

 

       The participants where awarded with Certificates of Completion and ribbons by Mrs. Annabelie Saboy, KES YES-O Club adviser during the closing ceremonies. Prizes where given to the winners. The camp ended with show-off, Zumba Dance number where parents watching also gamely joined.
